Kendyl Stahlbusch graduates from UW-Whitewater
Kendyl Stahlbusch from Medford, WI, earned a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at winter commencement, held December 16, 2023.
Approximately 620 students crossed the stage to receive their degrees at the ceremony, held at Kachel Fieldhouse in the Williams Center.
Stahlbusch graduated with the following degree: General Business - BBA The graduating class included three international students, 64 military veterans and 141 nontraditional students, defined as undergraduate students who are 25 years of age or older. In addition, 74 self-identified students with disabilities received degrees.

We survived the cold stretches of January in Wisconsin. The challenge ahead is dealing with February snows and the already large snowloads sitting on Wisconsin roof tops. There have been a few reports of roof cave-ins on Taylor County buildings recently.
A shed owned by Duane Recore on Sunset Drive was one of the buildings which collapsed last week. His mother was home and getting ready for work when the sound of the collapse caught her attention. It appears the weight of the snow bent a wall out, weakening the entire structure before it pancaked the items stored inside.

February 10, 1999 Voters to get say on fieldhouse, arts center and MAMS addition in April
Eloquence flooded the board room at the Medford Area Public School’s district office Monday evening. It was filled with that special persuasive power that comes as ordinary people voice their heartfelt dreams for a better life for their children and the entire community.
The common vision for the future centered around a proposed new middle school, athletic fieldhouse, and fine arts performance center in the Medford Area School District.
50 Years Ago February 7, 1974 UWC Here Serving Vital Role, Declares Chancellor
“I’m just as concerned about the Medford center of 162 students as I am with the Waukesha center which has about 1,600,” declared John Meggers, acting chancellor of the University of Wisconsin center system, while visiting the local campus Friday. He said both campuses and the others in the 14-campus system are serving an extremely important function in areas where they are located.
75 Years Ago February 10, 1949 National Guard Buys Kostner Building
The purchase by the State of Wisconsin of the Kostner building on State street as the site for an armory for the new National Guard unit that will be organized in Taylor county, was announced this morning by the State Bank of Medford, owner of the property The guard unit will take possession of the building on April 1.
February 7, 1924 Charity Ball Brings in More Than $300 100 Years Ago More than $300 was taken in for charity at the leap year ball put on by Kraenzchen at Germania Hall Friday evening. The Kraenzehen took in a gross amount of about $225 as payment for dance tickets and donations, and the Charity Club took in over $100 for suppers and in donations.
The party was a big success. Old time dances as well as the modern dances were part of the program.
