On January 29 at 8:13 a.m., a vehicle operated by Robert Sperl, 38, of Medford, was traveling north on CTH Q. The driver failed to stop at the stop sign at CTH M. The vehicle went through the stop sign, entered the north ditch of CTH M where it struck an intersection sign and a large tree. The vehicle came to rest against the tree facing north. The driver of the vehicle stated that he was on Google Maps on his phone and did not see the stop sign. The driver also added he was not wearing his seat belt. The driver stated his back and shoulder hurt. He was able to move his legs and feet. According to the report, his head appeared to hit the windshield and he had blood on his face and head. Sperl was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Sperl was cited for inattentive driving. TAYLOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
