The technical college system is all about building networks of partners in the public and private sectors.
As Lori Weyers, president of Northcentral Technical College, said those partnerships were what made the construction of the new NTC campus in Medford a possibility.
“It has been a long journey but we have made it,” she said to a crowd of about 50 local elected officials and business leaders who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday morning.

It took a while for Medford’s library project to get on track, but once it did it didn’t take long to be completed. And last Saturday, nearly 300 people squeezed into the new library—the Frances L.Simek Memorial Library— for the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremonies marking its official opening.
“I would like to thank everyone who donated their time and money to make this happen,” Fran Simek said, while Pep Simek added that “it is amazing what a community can do if it works together to benefit the future
children.”
January 24, 1974 Area Chamber of Commerce Office Established Here

Don Brunner, president of the Medford Area Chamber of Commerce, informed members at a dinner meeting Wednesday, January 16, that the Chamber now has an office in a downtown location. Some 70 members and spouses attended the meeting at Club Florena, the after dinner program included speakers.
The Chamber office which will be open on a parttime basis is located in the CEP building at 114 S. Main St. Mrs. Eileen Doriot, executive secretary of the civic service organization will announce office hours later after a telephone is installed.
January 27, 1949 Sheldon Institute Draws Large Crowd

An estimated 350 persons attended the farm institute that was held at the North Star hall in Sheldon Tuesday and heard two speakers from the University of Wisconsin and a representative of the federal soil conservation service discuss subjects of interests.
A special session was conducted at the village hall for the ladies.
Dr. B.A. Beach of the college of agriculture was unable to fulfill his scheduled appearance making it necessary to cancel the talk on mastitis control.
100 Years Ago January 24, 1924 Canning Factory Busy Installing Equipment
Canning factory men are keeping steadily at the work of installing equipment at the factory and warehouse. Local people who have not visited the plant up to this time are surprised at the size and progress of the industry.
