Girl Scout Cookie sale season is underway in area

Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) kicked off this year’s highly anticipated Girl Scout Cookie Program on Wednesday, January 17. The Girl Scout Cookie Program, the annual event in which Girl Scouts unbox their futures through the world’s largest entrepreneurial program for girls, runs from January 17 – March 31, 2024.

Girl Scouts will earn funds to fuel amazing outdoor experiences, STEM, and beyond. Despite the challenges posed by inflation and rising costs, GSNWGL has worked diligently to ensure that there will be no increase in Girl Scout Cookie prices this year. During this highly-anticipated time of year, Girl Scouts flex their entrepreneurial muscles and acquire essential life skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. All net proceeds from cookie sales stay local to power incredible Girl Scout experiences year-round. This year’s theme, Unbox the Future, aims to remove social barriers that often keep girls boxed in. When bold, goal-getting Girl Scouts sell a package of cookies, they do much more than what’s seen at face value. Girl Scouts are entrepreneurial powerhouses creating a more equitable future for themselves and the world. Supporting the Girl Scout Cookie Program provides invaluable experiences for members, such as service projects, troop travel, and summer camp. Consumers can now support their local Girl Scout entrepreneurs by ordering from an assortment of Girl Scout Cookies, including fan favorites such as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Sandwich, and more.

“Through the power of these iconic cookies, we empower our Girl Scouts to dream big and build confidence while learning invaluable life skills. This program not only delivers favorite treats but also fosters a sense of community and instills the importance of goal setting, money management, and so much more! Together, we are shaping the future leaders of tomorrow, one cookie at a time,” said Patti Shafto-Carlson, CEO of GSNWGL.

Nearly 700k girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, which provides vital entrepreneurial skills that build courage, confidence, and character. As a result, Girl Scouts create limitless barrier-breaking futures outside the box with transferable life skills.
