Abby Theatre installs new, curved screens

“Magambo,” which will open Sunday at the Abby Theatre, will be the first production shown on the new, gigantic curved screen, which is being installed this week inthe theatre.

Boy Scouts making plans to build club house

Boy Scout Troop 121, Abbotsford, are in need of a meeting place and club house. At the present time, Troop 121 is very active, with a membership of 16 boys, but due to the fact that no suitable meeting place is available, many projects which make a boy a Boy Scout cannot be taught.

Temperature goes down

Cold that penetrated through the thickest walls settled on the area over the weekend. During the day, Saturday, it got below zero and by Sunday, an eye-opening 34 degrees below zero was recorded.

Police commission hires chief

John J. Nelson was appointed Chief of Police for the Abbbotsford-Colby communities by the area police commission at a meeting held at the Colby City Hall January 9. The commission also appointed Ronald Gosse full-time policeman for the area and Frank Brodhagen Jr. will continue as a part-tine policeman.

Harry Kuehl new owner of Uptown Bar at Colby

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kuehl of Woodruff have purchased the Uptown Bar in Colby from Ralph Bloome. The Kuehls took over the operation of the bar Friday night, January 11.

Abbotsford school addition completion date extended

At the regular school board meeting held Monday, the board received a progress report on the school addition. It was reported because of some material shortages the completion date will be delayed until approximately March 1.

Funding needed to make DOT’s Curtiss interchange a reality

After last week’s informational meeting in the village, Curtiss area residents have a much clearer idea of how their new grade-separated diamond interchange at the intersection of Hwys. 29 and E will look.

Colby may run utilities in summer

A Colby committee will recommend to the city council in February that the northern annexation be added to an existing TIF district, and that water and sewer be run to the city’s northern boundary this summer.
