FREE THROW COMPETITION

The Knights of Columbus – Colby Council is sponsoring a free throw competition for boys and girls ages 9-14 on Sunday, January 21 at the Colby Middle School gym. The competition will begin at 1 p.m. with registration starting at noon.

COLBY FIRE AND EMS ASSOCIATION CHILI FEED

The Colby Fire and EMS Association will be hosting a chili feed fundraiser on January 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Fire Station 1 in Colby. The fundraiser will be drive thru style and will afford attendees the opportunity to meet local fire and EMS personnel while getting great chili. There is a charge for the chili.

CENTRAL FIRE AND EMS OPEN HOUSE

The Central Fire and EMS District will be hosting an open house on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire station in Abbotsford at 112 West Spruce Street. The fire district will provide live demonstrations of various fire fighting utilities and will have a tour of the fire and police stations.

BOOMTOWN SNOWMOBILE RACES

The Curtiss Boomtown Snowmobile races will be held on Saturday, February 10 with races starting at 12:30 p.m. The Curtiss Lions will be serving food and drinks inside the snowmobile club’s heated facility at 201 East Green Street in Curtiss.

COLBY FIRST UCC SOUP SUPPER

First United Church of Christ in Colby will be serving chicken dumpling and taco soup on Wednesday, Jan. 31 beginning at 4:30 p.m. The soup supper will run until 6:30 and music from Terry Howard will begin at 7 p.m. A free will offering will be taken and the proceeds going to support the Colby School District Weekend Backpack program and the lunch/milk fund.

APL STORY TIME

The Abbotsford Public Library will be hosting a story time on Friday, January 19. The event will have stories, songs, snacks, crafts and games. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. and is meant for preschool, kindergarten or younger children. Walk-ins are welcome.

CCL BASKET WEAVING

Colby Community Library will be hosting a basket weaving event put on by Woven Blessings Basketry, LLC on Saturday, Jan. 27. The event will include two classes with an experienced class running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a beginner’s class running from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

HOPE CENTER EVENTS

The Hope Center in Abbotsford is offering free English lessons on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m and on Thursdays at 5 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. The center is also hosting free Spanish lessons on Thursdays from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. To participate in the classes, students must register at www.hopecenter. space. To join via Zoom during class, text 715-316-4466. The Hope Center is also hosting a worship service at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. 2nd. St., Colby, holds two worship services. Join them every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. or Sundays at 9 a.m. with Pastor James Groleau. Sunday school is held on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. For more information call 715223-2166.
