Medford’s Sydney Sperl is pictured during the 50-yard backstroke and breaststroke legs of her 200-yard individual medley race at Friday’s WIAA Division 2 state championships held at Waukesha South. Seeded 16th going into the race, Sperl finished 15th in 2:18.51, beating her sectional time by 0.06 seconds. Rhinelander’s Celia Francis won the individual medley in 2:09.14.
