Local officials stake claims to governmental roles
A number of local races were decided on April 4 as the non-partisan election included school board members, town board supervisors, city and village officials and mayoral races.
In the Town of Mayville, write-in candidate Monica Dukelow earned three more votes than incumbent chairperson Brandon Butkus.
The Town of Green Grove saw multiple changes as supervisor Tom Wilcox won the seat of chairperson over Carl Kallberg, replacing David Fredrick. Supervisor Greg Weiler retained his position in a close battle with challenger Leon Martin while John A. Hoover earned Wilcox’s spot as the second supervisor.
The Town of Hull saw challenger Jordan Reynolds defeat Mitch Gumz in the election for chairperson.
In Abbotsford, school board members Eric Brodhagen and Jim Hirsch were re-elected. City council members Kayla Nixdorf and Mason Rachu as well as mayor Jim Weix were all reelected.
In Colby, alderpersons Dan Hederer and Randy Hesgard were elected back to the city council. Cheryl Ploeckelman and Jean Schmitt will both be returning to the Colby School Board.
In Curtiss, village president Betty Rettig, trustee Sheila Tomas and treasurer Jane Stoiber all retained their positions.
In Dorchester, village president Kurt Schwoch and trustees Eric Klemetson, Clarence Klimpke and Keith Lageman all won their elections to retain their spots on the village board.
In the Town of Colby, chairperson Larry Oehmichen along with supervisors Larry Mader and Jim Rankel all retained their spots on the board. Carri Weiler succeeded in stepping in for retiring clerk Theo Ludwig and treasurer Heather Jeske retained her position.
Town of Hoard chairperson Daniel Goessl defeated challenger Dave Koller while Daniel Bakke, Paul Fischer and Elizabeth Drager all retained their positions. The clerk position was filled by Marilyn Blanke.
The Town of Unity welcomed back Wayne Hendrickson as chair while John Meacham and Terry Meyer will be returning as supervisors.
