Meet the 2022-23 Colby FFA officers

The 2022-23 officer team kicked off their year by attending the officer training day in June of 2022. The officer team worked together to plan the upcoming year’s activities and learned more about each other. This team has done a great job promoting the chapter and getting new members involved throughout the year.

Senior Trevor Ertl is serving as the president this year and has spent five years in the FFA program. He hopes to take over the family farm. “My family owns and operates a 100-cow dairy and runs 1,000 acres for cash crops. I’ve been working with my family since I was a toddler,” Ertl said.

Ertl’s favorite part of FFA was organizing the drive your tractor to school day and going to the World Dairy Expo in Madison.

His favorite Ag class is plant science/ horticulture because it’s hands on and students get to work in the greenhouse. Trevor is a farmer through and through as his other hobbies outside of FFA are farming and 4-H.

Vice president Jazmyn Heeg is a junior and has spent three years in the FFA program. Her favorite FFA activity is dairy judging and her favorite class is exploratory Ag. She exploratory Ag is her favorite class because students got the opportunity to learn about FFA, parliamentary procedure, careers in ag and how to judge dairy cattle and horses. Her favorite hobbies outside of FFA include showing dairy, working on the family farm and spending time outdoors.

Junior Breanne Zawislan is serving as the 2022-23 treasurer for the Colby FFA. She has spent two years in FFA and her favorite activity includes anything that can include younger kids or members and gets them involved in agriculture.

Zawislan’s favorite ag classes include anything to do with animals because she enjoys getting to learn more in-depth details about them.

When not participating in conferences, fairs or other FFA and ag-related events, she enjoys being outdoors with animals.

Sophomore Ella Raatz is serving as this year’s secretary. She has been in FFA for three years and she can’t limit her favorite FFA activity to any one thing as she loves all aspects of ag.

Her hobbies include showing dairy cattle, boating and spending time with family and friends.

The officers help organize events, attend leadership conferences and show leadership and organization to those in the program.
