New floor installed in south gym New floor installed in south gym

Abbotsford School District executives showed the school board its new floor in the south gym at Abbotsford High School at the board’s monthly meeting on June 20.

Originally, the floor had two falcons that were about 10 square feet in size on each end of the floor. The new floor displays an estimated 200-square foot falcon at the center of the floor. Maintenance supervisor Mason Rachu said the school decided to go with a stained wood floor as opposed to a painted color scheme which allows for the grain of the wood to be seen even in painted areas.

The end lines of the basketball court also don the words “Abbotsford” and “Falcons” on each end with “Falcons” above the basketball 3-point line. Rachu said the company that made the floor was one that has made flooring for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and other prestigious sports teams.
