CCL stays busy heading into November, December CCL stays busy heading into November, December

At this time of Thanksgiving, the staff at the Colby Community Library wishes to thank everyone for their continued support of the library. While gatherings are still on hold, the staff is grateful for each day they are open for business.

Check out these November activities at the Colby Community Library:

Foodsgiving

Foodsgiving 2020, an event for businesses, clubs, civic groups, churches and individuals to build sculptures and donate food to local food pantries in Colby and Unity, has 15 entries. Because of COVID- 19 precautions, the sculptures will not be at the library but will be built at each participating location.

Vote for your favorite sculpture Nov. 11-20 on Facebook or in person at the library.

Books Are Fun

A Collective Goods/Books Are Fun fundraiser is being hosted by the Friends of the CCL. Check out the Collective Goods website, bookfaironthemove.com, between Nov. 16-27 to begin your holiday shopping. (You may have seen their merchandise at St. Mary Holiday Fair in previous years).

The Friends group will earn a percentage of the profits. Check out the CCL website, Facebook page, or call the library for more detailed information at 715-223-2000.

Be Crafty

Craft bags “on the go” are available for area youth. Create scaregirls or scareboys, paper plate turkeys or scarecrows, or turkey headbands. Limit one craft per visit, please.

Winners

Winners of the National Friends of the Library drawing were notified to stop in to pick up prizes. Fifty-six prizes were given to patrons who obtained one ticket per item checked out in October. 441 patrons participated and entered 3,283 tickets in the drawing.

Hallmark Holiday Hoopla

December will bring Hallmark Holiday Hoopla to the CCL. Check out Hallmark movies (either Christmas or non-Christmas) from Dec. 1-23 to earn chances for a drawing of Hallmark-type prizes.

Giving Tree

There are about a dozen leaves remaining on the CCL Giving Tree. Prices start at $200 (bronze), $500 (silver), and $1000 (gold). If you were thinking of sponsoring a leaf on the tree, now is the time before they are all gone. They make great holiday gifts and are a lasting tribute to individuals and families.

Closed on Thanksgiving The Colby Community Library will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, but will be open Friday, Nov. 27.

Regular open hours through the end of the year are Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. , and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
