Maplewood Badgers earn blue ribbons at festival
The Maplewood Badgers picked up several blue ribbons at the annual Clark County 4-H Drama/Music Festival and Speaking Contest held March 7 at Thorp Elementary School.
More than 80 youth represented seven 4-H clubs, were judged by Cheryl Anderegg and Katrina Lapham (drama), Roni Kaczor-Smith (music), and Michael Rusin (speaking). Chris Hollar served as the emcee for the event.
The Reseburg Ramblers provided concessions and multiple 4-H leaders, parents, and members helped make the event a success.
In the dramas/mini dramas/skits competition, the Maplewood Badgers won a blue ribbon award for their mini drama, “The Flower Garden.” The Badgers also earned special recognition for “Most Original Costumes.”
The cast consisted of Kaden and Allie Kunze; Rayna Hamus; Ella and Jacob Raatz; Lizzy and Belle Kloth; Skylar Simon; McKenzi Meyer; Kyle Johnson; Michael and Isabella Fleury.
The Maplewood Badgers’ mini drama was selected to represent Clark County at the 2020 Wisconsin State Fair.
In the musicals category, the Maplewood Badgers earned a blue ribbon for a group performance of “This Land Is Your Land,” “God Bless the U.S.A., and a medley of state songs.
Group singers included Kaden and Allie Kunze; Ella Raatz; Cassie Gosse; McKenzi Meyer; Isabella and Michael Fleury; Jenelle, Jasmine and Juliet Ertl; Skylar Simon and Rayna Hamus.
Also, Cassandra Gosse of the Maplewood Badgers won a blue ribbon award in solo with accompaniment with her performance of “I’ll Always Remember Us This Way.” She was also chosen to represent Clark County at the state fair.
