VILLAGE OF DORCHESTER Notice of Flushing Hydrants Hydrant flushing is an essential maintenance procedure all water providers must perform periodically to ensure the delivery of water that meets state and federal drinking water standards. During flushing activities, hydrants are opened for a limited period at strategic points of the system, moving water through the pipes at a high speed to discharge the minerals and sediments that settle in the pipes overtime. Flushing also helps to maintain flow and pressure in the water system. The Dorchester Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants August 12, 13, 14 and 15, 2025, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dorchester residents should be aware that during this period, the water in certain areas of the village may be discolored or cloudy. This is due to sediment breaking free during the flushing that was not entirely cleared out. The colored water does not pose a health hazard and is safe to drink, but it may cause staining of laundry. If residents have any questions, please contact the Dorchester Water Department 715-654-5106 or Dorchester clerk's office 715-654-5006. Jenny Reynolds Clerk/Treasurer 172025 WNAXLP
