City of Medford Notice of Public Hearing NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all persons in the City of Medford that a public hearing will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall, 639 S. 2nd Street, to inform the public and to solicit comments on the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) Facility Plan Amendment. The current City of Medford WWTF was constructed in 1991 and is authorized to discharge to the Black River by a Wisconsin Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit. The existing infrastructure needed to maintain compliance with the permit is aging and upgrades are needed for the WWTF to remain in compliance. Additionally, the City’s certified laboratory needs have expanded beyond the current footprint. The City has already undertaken projects to upgrade the headworks, secondary process, digesters, and solids handling processes. The City’s recommendation is to upgrade the current system by rehabilitating and expanding the administration and laboratory building, the filter building, and the solids pumping building.
