The project is located adjacent to Syrup Creek (WBIC 1756800) in the NE 1/4, NW 1/4, Section 33 Township 30 North, Range 2 West located in the Town of Maplehurst, Taylor County, Wisconsin. The Ovyn Wisniewski Pit is owned and operated by Ovyn Trucking and Excavating. The site is an existing mine site that has previously been permitted through Taylor County. The site is now creating a pond within 500’ of Syrup creek, which requires a chapter 30 permit through the WDNR Waterways program. The pond is proposed to be approximately 8.5 acres total in size and is located outside of any wetlands or floodplain areas. Mining is proposed to be completed in the year 2026 and the pond is proposed to be reclaimed to meet state reclamation standards. The Department will review the proposal provided by the applicant and any information from public comments and the public informational hearing.
