C ounty Taylor CONGRATULATIONS Daniel Winkler Educator What do you teach? Grades 9-12 (Special Education Cross-Categorical Teacher, Rib Lake High School.) of the Month How long have you been an educator? 18 years. Who was your favorite/best teacher when you were a student and why? My favorite teacher growing up was my 4th grade teacher, Mr. Benson. He made learning fun and had a way to connect with all of his students through literature and games. Why did you choose this profession? I chose special education due to having the opportunity to work with neglected and abused children at a treatment facility. While I was employed there, I was offered a teaching position for grades 3-4. It inspired me to get my masters degree in special education. What inspires you to continue as an educator? The idea that each day is filled with possibilities. There is nothing like working in an environment that is filled with the possibilities of what can become for each student on any given day. What is your favorite memory as an educator? My favorite memory is having the opportunity to teach in the same schools as my wife. I have taught alongside my wife, Natalie for over 17 years in Colorado and now Wisconsin. We are a good team who are dedicated to our school, our community, and our students. She is my favorite everything. Sponsored in partnership with: 39632_18 C ounty Taylor CONGRATULATIONS Daniel Winkler Educator What do you teach?
