United Way of Taylor County’s Dueling Pianos event strikes a chord for community support • Sandbox • Salvation Army • Huey’s Hideaway Children's Museum • Western Taylor County Public Library • Childcaring, Inc. • Jean M. Thomsen Memorial Library • Rib Lake Public Library • Chippewa Valley Boy Scouts United Way of Taylor County has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals and families in our community. Often, the people who receive support are our neighbors, friends, and colleagues who find themselves in times of need. Through fundraising efforts like the Dueling Pianos event, United Way ensures that critical resources are available to those who need them most. “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community and the support shown at the Dueling Pianos event,” said Mallori Strama, President of United Way of Taylor County. “These funds will directly impact programs that change lives and strengthen our community.” As United Way of Taylor County continues its mission to create lasting change, events like this highlight the power of collective giving. Taylor County residents came together for a night of music, laughter, and generosity at the United Way of Taylor County’s Dueling Pianos fundraising event. Held to support the many vital programs that United Way funds in our community, the event was a resounding success, bringing people together for an evening of entertainment while raising essential dollars for local organizations. The high-energy dueling pianos performance encouraged audience participation, song requests, and plenty of fun, all in the name of a great cause. Attendees enjoyed a lively and interactive show while knowing their contributions were making a meaningful difference in the lives of Taylor County residents. A fun aspect of this year’s event was the involvement of our community’s youth. The Medford boys basketball team volunteered their time, assisting with the event in a professional and enthusiastic manner. These young leaders showcased the bright future of our community through their dedication and service. The funds raised from this event will be part of the $83,000 that United Way of Taylor County will distribute in 2025 to support a variety of local agencies and initiatives. These organizations play a crucial role in strengthening our community by providing services in education, health, and financial stability. The agencies receiving funding include: • Restorative Justice Programs • Taylor County Commission on Aging • Hope Hospice • Black River Industries • Stepping Stones • Taylor County Supportive Housing •Samoset Council Pictures by Kris O’Leary Page Layout by Lydia Ploeckelman RED W HITE Medford High School & Middle School will be hosting their inaugural Show Choir Competition on Saturday, February 22 If you would like to see This event will be held in Raider Hall where we are hosting 19 performing groups from around the Midwest. The first group kicks off our competition at 8:00 a.m. with Daytime Awards wrapping up our Preliminary Competition at 6:00 p.m. Medford’s groups perform the Middle School will perform at 9:20 a.m. and the High School at 5:20 p.m. Following Daytime Awards, the top 6 high school shows will be competing in our Finals Competition for the coveted Grand Champions trophy.
