ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST II/SANITARIAN Taylor County Health Department Starting Pay Range: $28.41-$30.03 Excellent benefits to include participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System with 6.9% County Match The full-time (40 hr/week) Environmental Health Specialist II/Sanitarian is responsible for conducting environmental inspections and investigations in the areas of food safety, lodging, swimming pools, campgrounds, recreational facilities, etc. at various locations throughout Taylor County, investigating environmental health concerns, enforcing state statute, local ordinances, and other regulations related to environmental health and safety, collecting and analyzing various environmental health samples, managing state-based contracts, coordinating programs/services, and providing consultation to staff and other partners in environmental health matters. Applicant must possess a bachelor’s degree in environmental health, biology, bacteriology, microbiology, or related field and two years’ practical community-based environmental/public health experience. Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. National Environmental Health Association (REHS/RS) certification preferred, or eligible to sit for REHS exam. Valid driver’s license required. Ability to obtain Lead Risk Assessor certification within six months of hire is required. A completed Taylor County application is required to be considered for this position.
