Taylor County Educator of the Month AMY NIEHAUSEN What do you teach? I teach preschool at Immanuel Lutheran School. How long have you been an educator? This is my second year teaching at Immanuel. In between staying home to raise my kids, I have an additional ten years of child care experience. Who was your favorite/best teacher when you were a student and why? I was blessed with a bunch of wonderful teachers throughout my entire school career. My favorite teacher would have to be my second grade teacher, Lori Fry. She loved serving Jesus as a teacher. The love that she had for me and all of her students has stuck with me over the years. Why did you choose this profession? I chose to become a Lutheran Educator because of the wonderful teachers I had throughout my elementary and middle school years. I also love children and love sharing Jesus with them. What inspires you to continue as an educator? My students! Teaching little ones about Jesus is the absolute best! I love watching them learn and grow throughout the course of a school year. What is your favorite memory as an educator? I love helping students who are trying to conquer new skills. I worked with a special needs student, over the course of a few days, to climb a playground slide. The amount of assistance she needed from me became less and less as the days went on. The smile on her face when she finally made it to the top, all by herself was priceless! The other students on the playground also cheered quite loudly for her. I have a heart for encouraging my students to do their best! Sponsored in partnership with: MIRAGE HAIR D ESIGN 102 S. Main St., Downtown Medford Handel Automotive 316 S. Members of the Taylor County Coordinated Community Response/Sexual Assault Response Team (CCR/SART) gathered at Northcentral Technical College in Medford on Tuesday, April 28, where they observed two virtual presentations by Josephine A. Lauren of Incest AWARE. During the first session, Lauren educated on supporting survivors and their families by using the best language available and better understanding the basics about causes and consequences of this type of abuse. The second session brought to light the stigma surrounding difficult and taboo topics. Pictured are (l. to r.)
