âBRINGING DOWN THE HOUSEâ WAS A HIT WITH AUDIENCE GreenwoodandLoyalhighschoolsâcombinedtheaterdepartment performed âBringing Down the Houseâ on April 4, 5, and 6. Todd Wallingerâs fast-paced comedy was a hit with audiences! âBringing Down the Houseâ follows three aspiring musical theater creatorsâJules, Sydney, and Elliotâwho have big dreams of premiering their new show for Broadway investors. But when they arrive at their _irst rehearsal, they discover an unexpected twist: the building they rented is scheduled for demolition the very next day! With no time to spare and no money to secure another venue, the team has just two hours to throw a show together. As they scramble to rehearse, things go from bad to worse, thanks to a steady stream of interruptions threatening to derail their plans. The cast and crew of 22 began rehearsing in January to prepare for the production. Under the direction of Erik Adams, Stephanie Glaser, and Kelsey Hoverson, students from both schools brought the chaotic world of last-minute theater to life with energy, humor, and heart. The audience laughed throughout the performance at the playâs quirky characters, surprise gags, and over-the-top situations. For the students involved, the production was not only a success on stage but also a fun and rewarding challenge behind the scenes. GREENWOOD-GRANTON POPS CONCERT SHOWCASES TALENT By Michelle Kuehl, band and choir teacher held their pops concert featuring popular songs such as the âTheme from Batman,â âIâm A Believer,â âShut Up and Dance,â âThe Hop,â and many more. They also had soloists who performed to showcase their talent. Solo/ensemble awardswerealsohandedout:HannahKolano,LillyRossow, and Mikaya Johnson received a first place on their trumpet trio; and Lela Deavers received a _irst on her vocal solo. We look forward to growing musically next school year in hopes of adding a jazz band to Greenwood High School. âBirds of a Feather,â and many more. Class achievement certi_icates were given out along with solo/ensemble awards earned at this year's festival: Faith Kolano received a _irst on her vocal solo and a _irst at state; and Zachary Deavers received a _irst on his vocal solo. Special awards were given to: Tysen Lindner â Chopin Piano Award, Bria Thomas â National School Choral Award, and Emily Hebert â John Phillip Sousa Award for band. On May 19, the Greenwood-Granton Middle School On May 12 and 19, Greenwood-Granton high schools and middle schools performed their pops concerts in the Greenwood cafetorium, directed by Mrs. Michelle Kuehl. Granton had been attending Greenwood for band and choir courses since January and it was a great way to pool our resources so everyone could be part of a band or choir program. On May 12, the Greenwood-Granton high schools held their pops concert featuring both popular songs and classics such as âHeartbeat Song,â âBang Bang,â âSir Duke,â SENIORS CELEBRATE LAST DAY AS STUDENTS AT GHS The Greenwood High School Class of 2025 enjoyed a last day of school together at the end of May, which included posing for a group picture by the class mural, with a quote that stated, âI know I gotta grow up sometime but I donât think Iâm ready yetâ; taking a fun jump picture outside; and sharing a meal together. The class included 26 members. We are proud of our graduates and excited to see where their lives and careers take them. Graduates, you will always have your home community supporting you and cheering you on.
