My goal is to be an integrated member of your schools’ community and work together to meet the mental health needs of the School District of Greenwood. Dear Greenwood families and community members, As we conclude a wonderful school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support, partnership, and dedication to our school community. Together, we have created a year filled with growth, learning, and lasting memories for our students. This year, we celebrated many accomplishments, including academic progress, exciting field trips, engaging school events, and the joy of new friendships. Our students have shown resilience, kindness, and a strong eagerness to learn. These successes would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of our dedicated staff, the encouragement from home, and the strong ties we share with our local community. To our parent volunteers, EPEC members, and community partners, thank you. Your time, energy, and generous contributions have enriched every child’s school experience. Whether supporting classroom activities, extracurriculars, or fundraisers, your involvement has made a lasting impact. To our sixth grade students and families preparing for middle school: Congratulations! We are proud of the leaders you’ve become, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll do in middle school and beyond. You’ve left your mark here, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! Summer is a perfect time to relax and recharge, but it also offers so many opportunities to keep those curious minds engaged. Unstructured play, quality family time, and plenty of fresh air are just as important as academics. Here are a few simple, fun ways to keep the learning going all summer long: Explore together: Take a nature walk, visit a museum, or try a new recipe. Everyday experiences spark curiosity and great conversations. Play with numbers: Let your child help in the kitchen, count change, or play math games. A little practice adds up! Write for fun: Keep a summer journal, send postcards, or make up silly stories. Writing builds con_idence and creativity. Be curious: Encourage questions and explore how things work. Whether it's outer space or backyard bugs, learning is everywhere. Read daily: From bedtime stories to road trip reads, books keep imaginations growing. A library visit is free and a great adventure! Wishing you a joyful, relaxing summer _illed with laughter, sunshine, and wonderful memories. It’s been such a pleasure watching your children grow, and I can’t wait to welcome everyone back in the fall! Warm regards, Christy Zierer CEP Breakfast and Lunch Program DONATIONS NEEDED! Marshfield, WI 54449 To start, I would encourage you to watch the short video on our district’s Facebook page or website for more thorough information. How do I refer a student for services? Last year, our district was fortunate to qualify for the Community Eligible Program (CEP) that allowed free breakfast and lunch to all students. At the end of the year, we came to the realization that our district may not be able to afford this program going forward, as the total cost to the district was approximately $40,000. This is due to the rate of reimbursement for the percentage of students who are directly certified to receive free or reduced meal prices. At the beginning of the school year, we learned of an alternative path to stay enrolled in the CEP program, keeping free breakfast and lunch for ALL students. This is through a donation program and this is how it works. For a student who does not qualify for free or reduced lunch, the cost to eat school lunch each day is approximately $500 for the school year. This does not include the cost of breakfast. Our board is asking parents of these students to make a donation in the range of $200-$400 per child. I look forward to working with your students. Taylor Young, LCSW phone: (715) 492-6725 We have approximately 120 students who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch and eat school lunches regularly. These donations will offset the cost for the CEP program, allowing our district to continue with free breakfast and lunch for ALL students. Donations can be made in a lump sum or in smaller increments throughout the school year. The donations will be deposited in the general fund and then transferred to our food service account. So far, we have had some great donations, but we still have a ways to go to cover this program. Please consider making a donation to ensure we can offer very affordable meals to all of our students! The school board is willing to try this effort to ensure all of our students have access to breakfast and lunch! This is a way to decrease the cost for all and yet continue to provide free meals. Unfortunately, if we are not able to secure enough funds through donations, we will likely not be able to sustain this program into the 2025-26 school year. Please feel free to share this with anyone else who may be interested in supporting this program. If you have any questions about this request or program, please contact Joe Green, district administrator, Greenwood School District. Children’s Wisconsin 725 S.
