I continue to be amazed at how fast time _lies by and how quickly we end one school year and prepare for the next! As we wrap up the 2024-2025 school year, I want to take this opportunity to highlight staff who have reached milestones in their careers. The School District of Greenwood would like to congratulate Mr. David Post and Mrs. Linda Schmitt on their well-deserved retirements! Mr. Post has served the School District of Greenwood for 33 years, providing robust science instruction and experiences for our students! Mrs. Schmitt has been our technology specialist, keeping our district’s technology running smoothly for over 11 years! Thank you both for your service and dedication to our school community! The District also bids farewell to a few other staff members, leaving to pursue new adventures. I would like to extend a thank you to Ms. Diestler, a middle school teacher this past year. Mr. Joten, high school social studies teacher, has taken a new teaching position closer to his home. Mrs. Michele Green, our school librarian and technology integration specialist, has taken an elementary principal position within the Columbus Catholic school system. Thank you for your service to our kids and our community! Although school is out for summer, the learning doesn’t stop! Summer school starts on Monday and runs for four weeks. Then, Camp Invention rounds out summer school the week of July 7. There is still time to register for this great opportunity! Learning also continues for our staff. The elementary staff will be starting a new literacy program next year and will be digging in to learn more about that. Several staff will be attending an Arti_icial Intelligence (AI) retreat this summer as we learn how to utilize AI tools in the classroom to better engage our students in their learning. The elementary classrooms utilized some tools during the last month of school and we will look to use them more in the future. Teachers will be busy planning for next year at all grade levels and content areas, and I am extremely thankful for their hard work and commitment to excellence! Our work with the School District of Loyal continues as we aim for a consolidation date of July 1, 2028. A joint board meeting was held to talk with a lawyer from the Wisconsin Association of School Boards and our representative from Baird Financial. Questions regarding the transition from our current board to a joint interim board to the newly elected board of the consolidated district in 2028 were answered. Also clari_ied was the fact that our districts’ consolidation would likely still require an operational referendum to sustain operations, but the amount could be significantly lower than each district currently asks for separately! Our boards will continue to meet to work together as we blaze this trail to consolidation. Please make sure to ask questions along the way. I would love to hear from you! Finally, I want to congratulate our graduating class of 2025! I am proud of the work you have done and look forward to your continued successes. I want to wish all students and families a great summer break! I look forward to seeing you all again in the fall. We will be ready for you! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at any time. If you need to talk, the 988 Lifeline is here. At the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, we understand that life’s challenges can sometimes be difficult. Whether you’re facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or just need someone to talk to, our caring counselors are here for you. You are not alone.
