Before you know it, it will be time for New Year's resolutions. That said, we should take a few moments to celebrate how far we have come. Trimester one was .illed with staff and students displaying tremendous amounts of dedication toward doing their very best, and it shows. In trimester two, our students will continue to excel with your continuous support. Our school is filled with festive individuals. We indulged in dressing differently during the October Spirit Week. The last day of Spirit Week was spent showing our support for our team at the homecoming parade. The most recent dress-up week was to celebrate the longstanding tradition of Thanksgiving. Who wouldn't be thankful for receiving a plump turkey or a gift card for food? Thanks to our turkey reading challenge, a few students from each classroom were randomly selected to receive this Thanksgiving treat. Knowing what to do in case of a .ire can save lives. Thanks to our local .ire department, your children could practice this lifesaving skill in the .ire house. The .ire.ighters also came to each classroom to provide extra education and answer questions. We look forward to having them back again next year during Fire Prevention Week in October. Talking about saving lives Thank you to our veterans! We were blessed to have veterans grace our building and join us for breakfast, talk to our little ones, and join us in the Veterans Day program. We would love for more veterans to join us next year. If you are looking to get more involved, EPEC could be just what you are looking for. EPEC stands for Elementary Parents, Educators, and Community. Their mission is to foster communication between all stakeholders that creates a solid foundation for our children. They have been doing a fantastic job .inding ways to collaborate as a team supporting our students. The next meeting is on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Greenwood Elementary library. Anyone looking for a delicious way to support our children can participate in our fundraiser. Around mid-January, be on the lookout for our Clark Pizza fundraiser. Not only do the pizzas taste great, but they are made locally. If pizza isn't your thing, no worries; there will be other options and ways for you to support our school. Community connections warm the hearts of many. Nothing is sweeter than hearing our little ones perform at the Christmas concert. The concert will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. in Greenwood High School. The Christmas concert might be the last big event of the 2024 year, but the Sheltered Reality Drumline performance will kick off the new year. Please join us for a fun family event that fosters an uplifting message. The Sheltered Reality Drumline group will perform on Friday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. in the Greenwood High School cafetorium. Sending you all warm wishes. SIXTH GRADERS GIVE BACK The sixth graders are reading a story titled "A Dog Named Christmas" by Greg Kincaid. The story is about a boy named Todd who learns that the local humane society is trying to find homes for all the dogs sheltered there by Christmas. The boy takes it upon himself to encourage his family, friends and neighbors to adopt a dog. In the spirit of giving, the sixth graders have decided to make a monetary donation to the Clark County Humane Society near Neillsville. The donation will help the nonprofit organization cover expenses such as food and medical treatments. THIRD GRADERS LEARN THAT ‘AIR IS EVERYWHERE’! In October, the third graders enjoyed attending a show called "Air Is Everywhere" at the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts in Spencer. They learned that science can be a lot of fun and very entertaining!
