Granton Bulldog News Taking steps, hops to learning The elementary school received a grant from the Healthy Classrooms Foundation to put in a sensory walk in the hallways. Shown middle is a Rubik’s Cube with letters of the alphabet students can use to form words. Right is an ABC hopscotch. Above, the sensory walk also includes circles with sight words. The goal is to provide students with an educational activity they can use while waiting in the hallway. Granton Community Library shares news for upcoming year We are excited for school to start. Our schoolwide theme this year is kindness. The library will be hosting a kindness reading challenge. The challenge is pretty simple. Read books about kindness and earn a prize. Children need to read 13 books and adults need to read six books before June 1, 2025. Stop in the library to pick up the tracking sheet and get more information. Every week, elementary children come to the library with their class. I do a short lesson on library skills or something related to their class curriculum. After the lesson, each child can check out books that they can borrow and take home. Students in grades K-2 can have up to two books at a time. Grades 3-5 can have up to three books at a time. Four-year-old kindergarten students are limited to one book. Please fill out this Google form with your preference: https://forms.gle/ MvU7iVYPjeRpkRYc9 The library needs permission to link and share the following student library records: information regarding fines, checked out items, and requested items with the student’s teacher. If you do not want this information shared with your student’s teacher, please contact the library with a written request. A request for evaluation is known as a referral. When the District receives a referral, the District will appoint an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to determine if the child has a disability, and if the child needs special education services. The District locates, identifies, and evaluates all children with disabilities who are enrolled by their parents in private (including religious) schools, elementary schools and secondary schools located in the School District. A physician, nurse, psychologist, social worker, or administrator of a social agency who reasonably believes a child brought to him or her for services with a child with a disability has a legal duty to refer the child, including a homeless child, to the School District in which the child resides. Before referring the child, the person making the referral must inform the child’s parent that the referral will be made. Others, including parents, who reasonably believe a child is a child with a disability may also refer the child, including a homeless child, to the School District in which the child resides. Referrals must be in writing and include the reason why the person believes the child is a child with a disability. A referral may be made by contacting the School Psychologist, Granton Area School District, at 715-238-7292, or by writing her at 217 North Main Street, Granton, WI 54436. Regular Hours resume Sept. 3: Monday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Sept. 6 - Preschool story time at 10 a.m. (runs every Friday) Saturday, Sept. 7 - Chalk Walk 9-11:30 a.m. Contact the library for more details.
