Notes from the Principal by Granton Area School District Principal Amanda Kraus ASBESTOS NOTIFICATION In compliance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), this is notice that the Granton Area School District has an Asbestos Management Plan at the school district office. The plan is available for inspection by the public, parents and district employees. The district performs six-month periodic surveillance of asbestos and full re-inspections every three years. For more information, please contact the district office. DIRECTORY INFORMATION The following information has been designated as directory information: Student’s name; address; telephone listing; date and place of birth; current grade; parent’s name; dates of attendance; participation in officially recognized activities and sports; weight and height as a member of an athletic team; student’s photograph; school the student attended most recently; major field of study; degrees and awards received. Any parent, guardian or eligible student may inform the district that all or any part of the directory information may not be disclosed without the parent, guardian or eligible student’s consent, provided that such notification is given to the district within thirty (30) days of the start of the school year. Although school has not officially begun, sports and clubs have been busy this past week celebrating the start of a new year. With this, I have been able to see some of your faces throughout our district, but I look forward to having all our students back in the building for another school year. As always, communication is highly valued between home and school, and it plays an integral role in each student’s success. We will once again be using ClassTag, now titled SchoolStatus Connect, as our main form of communication. If you are not signed up or need help, we will have staff at our Open House on Aug. 29 in the building to assist you. We look forward to a very positive and productive year together and extend a special, yearlong invitation to our families to join us at school activities whenever possible. I cannot wait to see you all at open house and in the building for our first day on school on Sept. 3.
