THE ROCKET for Winter 2024 F.A.C.S. CLASSES HAVE FUN MAKING GINGERBREAD HOUSES, FROSTING COOKIES Leading up to the holidays can be a fun and exciting time in the kitchen. Our culinary 1 and 2, eighth grade survey and interior design students participated in some holiday traditions. Each class was able to do something fun, such as decorate a gingerbread house or make cut-out cookies. Our culinary 1 and 2 students made gingerbread from scratch to make their gingerbread houses and then had a gingerbread house decorating contest in class. The interior design students used prepackaged gingerbread houses to come up with the best gingerbread houses in the classroom based on the techniques they learned in class. My eighth grade survey students enjoyed using graham crackers and frosting to come up with their gingerbread masterpieces. In addition, culinary 1 and 2 students made cut-out cookies and frosted and decorated them for the holidays. Many of the students had not done this at home, so this was an exciting time for them. ~Ashley Heiman, family and consumer sciences and health teacher EXPERIENCE LEARNING IN SPENCER O OG O S ECOLOGY CLUB TOURS WILDWOOD PARK In the late fall, about a dozen members of the ecology club had a guided tour of the Wildwood Zoo.
