Haunted Mansion activity teaches fifth graders about decimals As a fun Halloween activity, the Granton fifth-grade class completed the Haunted Mansion activity. In this activity, they needed to solve problems using addition and subtraction of decimals and identify place value to determine the amount of each object they needed to draw in their Haunted Mansion. Earth science, geography lessons abound in sixth grade Ms. Larson’s sixth-grade earth science class is creating topographical maps. They were able to design their own maps using graphing paper and then recreate the elevations using cardboard. They were created by drawing out each contour on individual bits of cardboard, cutting them out and stacking them on top of each other to make the model. On right (above and below), students recently worked on a mapping project as the first part of their unit on North America.
