Council Meeting Feb. 19, 2026 7 p.m., mayor Mark Larson called the regular council meeting to order, at the city council chambers. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence, honoring all individuals who have, or are, protecting our freedom. Minutes taken by administrator/clerk-treasurer DeJongh. Council members present: Debra Semanko, David Hoel, Floyd Hickethier, Bill Kvapil and Tim Smith Absent: Steve Turany Guests present: Lucas Kohls, Kevin Oium, Dan Osborn, Amber Nagel and Ginna Young Motion Hickethier, seconded Semanko, to accept the agenda, as printed. Carried five ayes, one absent. Motion Hickethier, seconded Hoel, to approve the regular council meeting minutes of Feb. 5, 2026. Carried five ayes, one absent. DeJongh reported on Finance Committee meeting held earlier, at 6 p.m. Met in closed session and then discussed fuel services proposed for the city shop, for fueling city shop and police vehicles. Dairyland Power is providing a $1,000 student scholarship for a high school student, going to continue their education and a customer of Cornell Electric Utility. Kohls was at the meeting, to discuss his application for a solid waste hauling permit. His business would drop off rolloffs to interested parties, which then would be hauled to local landfills and dumped.
