Cookout fundraiser

L & N Hardwoods Relay for Life team will host a cookout from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, in the Pro-Vision parking lot.

The food menu will consist of chicken sandwiches, mushroom and swiss burger, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and brats. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Grab & Go Crafts

Children can pick up a craft kit with supplies and instructions to create their own firebreathing dragon from July 13-17 at the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch, located at 213201 Scholar St.

They can visit the Stratford library any time it is open during that week to pick up a kit and then make the craft at home. Grab & Go Crafts is free and kits are limited to one per child.

College notes

Nicholas Stoflet and Mariah Zawislan were awarded to the UW-Platteville Chancellor’s list for the 2020 spring semester.

Stoflet is majoring in electrical engineering and Zawislan in elementary education.

Brooke Fisher and Tate Tichy graduated from UW-River Falls in May.

Fisher earned a bachelor of science degree in Tchg Engl to Spkers of Oth Lang, Summa Cum Laude. Tichy earned a bacholor of scienece degree in crop and soil science.

Paul Huther, Heather Miller and Devan Slominski from Stratford were named to the UW-Eau Claire dean’s list for the 2020 spring semester.

Eli Drexler and Andrella Zuelke of Stratford were awarded to the University of Minnesota- Duluth dean’s list for the 2020 spring semester.

Drexler is a freshman majoring in pre business and Zuelke is a senior majoring in biology.

No Lions brat fry

The Stratford Lions Club has decided not to hold its brat fry this Friday, July 10, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Preschool starting

St. Joseph Catholic School in Stratford is beginning a new preschool learning center, which will provide a playbased learning environment, for children ages three and four during the upcoming 2020-21 school year.

Parents with children who’ll be three years old by Sept. 1 should call St. Joseph Catholic School at 715-687-4145 to learn more about this new program and how they can enroll their children into the new preschool learning center. Children need to be potty trained to participate.

Blood drives

Blood drives will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Aug. 25 and Oct. 27, at the VFW Clubhouse.

People are encouraged to walk in the door of the VFW Clubhouse to donate blood.
