Two upcoming Internet safety adult-only presentations will be held in the Stratford High School gym Marathon County Sheriff’s Department detective Lt. Jeff Stefonek will present Part 1: Internet Safety from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 30.

His presentation topics will include sexting, cyberbullying, online privacy and grooming. Pizza and beverages will be served prior to the event.

This event is sponsored by funds from a state Department of Pubilc Instruction AODA mini-grant and is supported by the WMCHC, the Women’s Community Center and the Marathon County district attorney’s office. Marathon County district attorney Theresa Wetzsteon and family advocate Kimberly Pufahl will present Par 2: Internet Safety-Sexting from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 6.

Their presentation topics will center around sexting laws, parental resources and response and what can be done.

This event is supported by funds from a state Department of Public Instruction minigrant, WMCHC, the Women’s Community Center and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

Genealogy training

Adults can work on their family histories and swap genealogy tips with one another during a free monthly event that from 1-2 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch on April 8.

FFA blood drive

Stratford High School’s FFAClub will hold a blood donation drive from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in the commons area.

The blood drive is also open to Stratford-area community members.

Parking restrictions

Village of Stratford winter parking restrictions are still in effect until Wednesday, April 1.

Whether or not there is snow on the pavement, vehicles can’t be parked on any village street or state highway between 2-6:30 a.m.

Leap for Learning

St. Joseph Catholic School in Stratford is offering Leap for Learning Days, which are half days at school for children who will be in Pre-Kindergarten next school year, to try out the school. Children would need to be four years old by Sept. 1, 2020 to start Pre-Kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.

The last Leap for Learning Day is from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on April 8, Donuts with Dad/Grandpa/Uncle.

Children who attend the Leap for Learning Days should come to school with a coat, snow pants, boots, hat and mittens for playing outside for recess. Children would also need to wear a pair of shoes to wear inside the school when their wet boots are removed.

Medicare basics

Adults can learn all the ins and outs of Medicare eligibility during a free informative event from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. this Saturday, March 14, at the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch, located at 213201 Scholar St.

Book Club

Stratford-area residents are welcome to join a lively March Book Club discussion on “Becoming” by author Michelle Obama at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17.

Dog licensing

Village of Stratford residents who own dogs are required by state law to get them registered. Residents need to bring proof of their dog’s current rabies vaccination to the village hall to purchase a license before the Tuesday, March 31, deadline. Residents will be charged a late fee afterward.
