Martin J. “Marty” Heier

1940-2024

Martin J. “Marty” Heier, 84, of Medford, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024. Marty was born Oct. 13, 1940 in Medford to Anton and Teresa (Mraz) Heier. He graduated from Medford High School in 1960. Following high school, Marty served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1965.

On March 30, 1968, he married Diane Sulko at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. They resided in Medford where Marty was one of the original drivers for Tombstone Pizza. He then went to work for Weather Shield where he held various positions, retiring in 2003.

Marty was a very social person and loved being out with friends, whether it was bowling, playing Sheepshead, shooting pool, or golfing. He also played on a men’s softball league and a men’s basketball league. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Diane; sons, Jason (Dawn), Josh (Stacie); sisters, Dorothy (Marvin) Frey, Charlene (Dave) Zenner, Karen Heier (Dave Albrecht), Joanne (Rick) Schneveis; brothers-in-law, Duane Sulko and Rick Ross; sisters-in-law, Pat Heier and Rosemary Heier; grandchildren, Collyn Heier, Katelyn (Zak) Barnetzke, Jack, Rae, Willem and Theo Heier; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Audrey Jentzsch, Tom Heier, Phyllis Dassow, Fred Heier, Robert Heier, Jane Maynard, Sherry Ross; and brothers-in-law, Philip Sulko, Bruce Jentzsch and Jim Maynard.

As per Marty’s wishes, no services will be held. Cards may be sent to Diane at 902 E. Allman St., Medford, WI 54451. Memorials are appreciated and will be designated by the family at a later date.
