One vehicle crashes
On November 27, at 3:17 a.m., a vehicle operated by Winston Sapinski, 23, of Medford, was eastbound on CTH M and veered into the south shoulder striking a mailbox at W7833 CTH M in the town of Hammel. The vehicle continued eastbound and skidded across into the north ditch overturning and striking a tree causing extensive damage before coming to rest on its wheels. Sapinski was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital with suspected serious injuries. The vehicle was towed with disabling damage. Sapinski was cited for operating while under the influence and non-registration of an auto.
On November 24 at 3:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Richard Peterson, 73, of Owen, was traveling southbound on Hwy 73 in the town of Ford when the driver stated he swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle crossed the center line and entered the east ditch where it struck multiple trees and came to rest against a wildlife fence. The vehicle had disabling damage to the front end and the passenger side. The front air bags were deployed. According to the crash report, Peterson told law enforcement he was not injured and that he would remove the vehicle the following day.
On November 22, at 10:04 p.m., a vehicle operated by Lawrence Bergschneider, 62, of Westboro, was driving on Wilderness Ave. approaching Franz Dr. The operator of the vehicle attempted to make a left hand turn onto Franz Dr. The driver made an improper turn by turning too wide and ended up driving into the ditch at the northeast corner of the intersection. The vehicle received minor damage and was towed from the scene. On November 19, at 8:45 p.m., a vehicle operated by Keegan Neitzel, 17, of Medford, was driving southbound on Gibson Dr. in the town of Little Black. The operator noticed a deer in the roadway and swerved to avoid it. While swerving, the vehicle ended up driving into the ditch and rolled over onto its roof.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage. Neitzel was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Two vehicle crashes
On November 21, at 5:25 p.m., a vehicle operated by Caidyn Zenner, 17, of Medford, was traveling northbound on S. Wisconsin Ave in the city of Medford. A vehicle driven by Ronald J. Bucki, 75, of Medford, was traveling northbound immediately in front of Zenner. Bucki’s vehicle stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of S. Wisconsin Ave. and W. Broadway Ave. Zenner stopped immediately behind the Bucki vehicle. A semi truck and trailer was traveling westbound on W. Broadway Ave. and attempted to turn southbound onto S. Wisconsin Ave. According to the crash report, Bucki believed he could back up to give the semi truck more room for the turn, so he did. Bucki’s vehicle then backed into the front of Zenner’s vehicle. According to the report, Bucki did not know what his vehicle hit, and said he had to pick up his grandson. It was also drizzling and he could not find a place to pull over, as he was blocking traffic. He continued to drive. Zenner also continued to drive, as she did not see Bucki pulling over. Both drivers left the scene and reported the accident later that same date. There was damage to the front drivers size corner of the Zenner vehicle and rear passenger’s side of the Bucki vehicle.
On November 27, at 3:01 p.m., a vehicle operated by Joel Paulson, 75, of Athens, was eastbound on Hwy 64 in the city of Medford as it traveled through the intersection with Hwy 13. A vehicle operated by Steven Byrd, 39, of Medford, was northbound on Hwy 13 as it traveled through the intersection with Hwy 64. The vehicles collided resulting in disabling damage to the Paulson vehicle requiring it to be towed and disabling damage to the Byrd vehicle and resulting in a lane closure for about 41 minutes. According to the crash report, both drivers told police they had a green light to go through the intersection at the time of the collision. There were no known witnesses to the collision. Nearby video/surveillance cameras captured the crash. According to the crash report, Hwy 13 (north/south traffic) had a red light at the time of the crash and that the Byrd vehicle proceeded into the intersection on a red light. Byrd was cited for operator violating red traffic light. A passenger in the Paulson vehicle had a suspected minor injury and Byrd had a possible injury.
Parking lot crashes
On November 26, at 2:21 p.m., a vehicle operated by Ellen Pieper, 80, of Medford, was navigating the Walmart paring lot in the city of Medford. According to the crash report, she explained that she saw an open spot and began to turn toward it. However, she turned too sharp and hit a concrete post holding a row sign. No injuries were reported and there was minor front end damage to the front bumper cover/license plate.
Deer related crashes
On November 25, at 6:03 p.m., a vehicle operated by Carol Perez, 64, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel. The vehicle sustained functional damage to its right front corner.
On November 24, at 11:20 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jarveus Robinson, 26, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Browning. The vehicle sustained functional damage to its right front corner.
On November 23, at 4:45 p.m., a vehicle operated by Kari Entenmann, 44, of Merrill struck a deer while traveling westbound on CTH M in the town of Greenwood. The vehicle sustained functional damage to the front of the vehicle.
On November 23, at 6:18 a.m., a vehicle operated by Noel Barteck, 80, of Owen, struck a deer while traveling northbound on CTH DD in the town of Holway. The vehicle was towed with disabling damage to its front end.
On November 21, at 5:32 p.m., a vehicle operated by Sarah Holtz, 56, of Owen, struck a deer while westbound on CTH A in the town of Holway. The vehicle sustained functional damage to its front end.
On November 30, at 3:02 p.m., a vehicle operated by Morgan Mueller, 42, of Medford, struck a deer while southbound on Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. The vehicle sustained functional damage to the left side front and corner.
