Reader says county should stream committee meetings

Vox Pop

My last Vox Pop I wrote about people need to be present at the Veterans Committee meetings and showing support for our Veterans. I have done some thinking about what I said. For the people that are physically not able to be there; they may be able to watch the meeting live online. With the technology that is available why can’t these meetings be able to be watched online? I know for a fact that Taylor County is able to broadcast these meetings online, they have done it in the past. Why is this not an option for all meetings? We need to let the County Board know that we need to make all meetings available live online. Call your representative to let them know that you want to have the option to watch it online. With the option to listen online more of the county residents can be up to date on county matters. I have been to quite a few of the Veteran Committee meetings and with there no comment allowed from the public or from the Veterans directly; this would not affect the meetings in anyway it would just allow people to listen to what is being said and what the issues are.

Did you catch the comment where I stated that there was no public allowed to speak at the Veteran Committee meetings? You heard me right! The chair of that committee Lester Lewis does not allow for public input at any of the meetings I have been to. After a meeting I heard a Veteran say that he fought for this country; for our freedoms (this including freedom of speech) and he is not able to speak at these meetings and be heard. Sure made me think about who these committee members listen to, sounds like some of them just like listening to themselves talk.
