Jump River Electric plans annual meeting

Jump River Electric Cooperative (JREC) has rescheduled its 82nd annual meeting of its membership for Saturday, July 25. The annual meeting has also been relocated to an outside venue to help ensure social distancing guidelines are being followed. It is being held at the Ladysmith Lions Club Legacy Amphitheater located at Memorial Park in Ladysmith.

“This in-person meeting has been condensed and relocated to make sure that we hold a safe and lawful meeting that also follows all CDC and social distancing guidelines,” said general manager/CEO James Anderson. “Safety is, and has always been our priority at the cooperative. We know the most important thing we can do to help our community is to keep our employees safe and healthy so we can keep your power on.”

Registration for the meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the business meeting starting at 10 a.m. All voting for the election of three director seats, proposed article and bylaw amendments, and a proposed advisory resolution can be done by casting an absentee ballot by July 24 or by casting a meeting-day ballot prior to the start of the business meeting on July 25. Call the cooperative at 715-532-5524 if you have a question on balloting options. The meeting will also include reports from the board president and the general manager/CEO.

Absentee ballots can be mailed or dropped off at both the Ladysmith and Hayward offices during normal business hours. Members can obtain an absentee ballot at either of the JREC offices with proper identification until the 4 p.m. on July 24.

The meeting is for all JREC members to attend and participate in. The cooperative is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will postpone the annual meeting if necessary due to new CDC guidelines.
