Hornets runners gauging their course-running ability

In just the second time they’ve competed at the annual Marshfield Columbus Race, Aug. 30, the Cadott cross country program went up against some different competition. Despite that, the boys team placed first, edging out McDonell, by 11 points.
“There were 14 teams, which allowed us to compete against schools like Whitefish Bay and Marshfield, helping us gauge our current ability,” said coach Dan Yeager.
Junior Beau Steinke led the team, placing fourth overall, followed by sophomore Jacob Pilgrim, who came in ninth. Senior Saibyn Will came next, in 10th place, with junior Jon Phelps two seconds behind, placing 11th.
Rounding it out, were juniors Garret Engel in 19th and Kaden Roen for 35th. Juniors Klayton Handrick and Max Demulling, and senior Jon Enestvedt all ran well, with a strong start to the season.
“Both Demulling and Handrick were nearly a minute faster than they performed during this race, last season,” said Yeager.
