Sox continue on in quest to dominate North Division

It was an action-packed week, for the Cadott Red Sox Baseball team, as they played four games, taking the sweep. July 9 vs. Jim Falls (W 10-0) First up, was Jim Falls, who came to call on Cadott, but neglected to bring along the offense. The Sox racked up 10 runs in the game, to claim a shutout victory. “With the Red Sox win, the team is guaranteed a winning season for the first time since 1985, when they finished 7-5,” said manager Rick Danielson. Zack Thiesse was on the mound for Cadott, going six innings and allowing 4 hits, while striking out 4 batters. Thiesse is now 4-1 on the season. Jack Gabler closed out the game for the Sox. Offensively, Cole Bakkum and Jack Redwine each had 2 hits, while Luke Erickson, Jonah Hanson, Logan Burzynski and Carter Hesselman all added a hit. “The team was pressing a little bit the last couple of games during our three-game losing streak,” said Danielson. “It’s good to come out and play the way we did tonight, and get a win. We are set up for an exciting last three weeks of the regular season.” July 12 vs. Augusta (W 7-3) The Sox were then off to Bruce, for the Blue Hills Festival Tournament, in a three-team round robin set-up. Cadott won the tourney in 2023, but it was rained out last year. To begin, the Tony Hayshackers beat the Augusta Athletics, then, Cadott took on Augusta in game two, taking a 7-3 win. Danielson pitched the complete game for the win. Hanson ended with 3 hits and Erickson had 2 hits. “This set up a winner-take-all game three, between Tony and Cadott,” said Danielson. July 12 vs. Tony (W 6-3) However, Tony was no match for the Sox and they earned the victory, 6-3. Luke Merritt went four innings at the helm and earned the win, with Redwine pitching an inning for the save. On offense, Burzynski and Hanson each came up with 2 hits. July 13 vs. Chippewa Falls (W 10-0) The next day, the Sox were back at home, taking on the Chippewa Falls LumberJacks, entering the game with Cadott in first place in the North Division of the Chippewa River Baseball League (CRBL), while Chippewa was in second place. Once again, Cadott refused to go down, in their quest to stay at the top and took the shutout win, 11-0 “The guys came ready to play and played great, both offensively and defensively,” said Danielson. “Chippewa has a good squad. They beat us last week. We knew we needed this game.” Henry Wilkinson, who missed the last month, with a hamstring injury, returned to the mound, to pitch five shutout innings and earn the victory, giving up 6 hits and striking out 6. Thiesse then took over, going two innings and allowing a single hit. The offense was on fire, with every player in the starting lineup collecting at least one hit. Redwine led the way, with 3 hits, followed by Jack Kein, Erickson, Bakkum and Burzynski, who all had 2 hits. Adding a hit each, were Hanson, Sam Feck, Hesselman and Chad Kron. The Sox are now 11-4 and at the top of the league. “One of our team goals this season, is to win the CRBL North Divsion,” said Danielson.
