Bloomer takes one, but the Hornets bounce back

Facing Bloomer in back-to-back games, the Cadott baseball program claimed one of the two matches over their foe.
May 6 vs. Bloomer conference (L 19-10)
To begin, Cadott was at home against the Blackhawks, with both teams evenly matched in the opening inning, at 3-3, but Bloomer opened it up after that, scoring nine more runs by the fifth inning. The Hornets managed to put a run on the board in the bottom of the fifth, but Bloomer had five more runs cross the plate in the sixth.
Not to be outdone, Cadott added five more runs of their own, but Bloomer was determined and held on, to take a 19-10 victory.
At the helm for Cadott, was junior Aiden Rykal, who went four innings, giving up 8 hits, 8 runs and 4 walks, while sophomore Isaac Wellner went two innings, allowing 8 hits, 10 runs and 5 walks. Freshman Jake Wellner then took over, to finish out the game.
Offensively, leading on hits for the Hornets, were senior Warren Bowe, with 3, followed by Wellner, Rykal, freshman Drew Rykal and sophomore Brock Folczyk, who all had 2 hits each. Weeks and freshman Lucas Bourget each chipped in with a hit.
May 8 vs. Bloomer conference (W 3-2)
A couple days later, the Hornets were at Bloomer for the match-up, in a fight to take the win. Cadott struck first, putting a run on the board in the first inning, as well as two more in the second. Bloomer attempted a comeback in the third inning, with two runs crossing the plate, but that was it for either team and the Hornets walked away with a 3-2 win.
“Great game boys, way to grind it out,” said coach Brandon Geist.
Bowe was on the mound this time, going four innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs and a walk, while striking out a whopping 16 batters, while D. Rykal closed it out for the Hornets.
Weeks, D. Rykal, Folczyk and freshman Jacob Pilgrim all came up with a hit for Cadott.
