Cadott has a tough away stretch against their foes

It was a hard week of softball for Cadott’s program, as they couldn’t come up with a win against their league opponents.

April 24 vs. Thorp conference (L 6-3)

Beginning the first of three games on the road, the Hornets were on the road at Thorp. The game was close at first, with Thorp leading 3-2, after the third inning, but the Cardinals were determined and put three more runs on the board.

Cadott attempted to even the score, but were able to only add one more run and Thorp took the win, 6-3.

“We let a few errors and mistakes snowball, and that got to us a bit,” said coach Lexie Rothbauer.

Senior Kasey Moldrem went six innings, allowing 8 hits, 6 runs and 2 walks, while punching out 4 batters.

On the offensive side of things, junior Kennedy Nerdrum and sophomore Ava Eiler led, with 2 hits, while senior Rilei Weeks, juniors Abi Bowe and Lexi Bremness, and freshman Kaylee Reineke all had a hit.

“We were able to string together some well-timed hits, but they weren’t enough,” said Rothbauer.

April 25 vs. Fall Creek conference (L 10-3)

The next day, the Hornets took part in a doubleheader at Fall Creek, but had a slow offense, only putting three runs on the board, opposed to the Crickets knocking in 10, to claim victory.

Moldrem was again on the mound, giving up 12 hits and 10 runs.

Coming up with a hit each for the Hornets, were Bowe, Nerdrum, Weeks, senior Tarynn Donahue, and juniors Karlee Davis and Josie Roth.

April 25 vs. Fall Creek conference (L 15-0)

In the second game of the series, Cadott against struggled and Fall Creek capitalized on that, taking a shutout win, 15-0.

Again at the helm, was Moldrem, going five innings and giving up 17 hits and 15 runs.

Offensively, Bowe added 2 hits for the Hornets, while Moldrem chipped in with a hit.
