Sox jump over Bullfrogs to end three-game week

The weather has been unpredictable, but the Cadott Red Sox Basbeball team was able to get in the week’s schedule, in Chippewa River Baseball League (CRBL) action.
June 19 vs. Chippewa Falls LumberJacks (L 9-5)
The first game took place mid-week, on the road at Chippewa Falls, but offense was slow going for Cadott, at the start, as the LumberJacks put four runs on the board in the first and third innings, while holding the Sox scoreless.
By the fourth inning, Cadott added a run of their own, followed by two in the fifth, and another in the sixth and seventh innings, but with another run from Chippewa Falls in the seventh, they solidified the 9-5 victory.
Gio Basile was on the mound for the Sox, pitching for six innings, allowing 8 hits and 8 runs, while striking out 11. Alex Schmidt then took over, going two innings, and giving up 2 hits and a run.
On the offensive side, Jonah Hanson and Jack Redwine each came up with 2 hits, while Jack Kein, Luke Erickson, Axel Tegels, Carter Kron, Sam Feck and Bennett Bowe all had a hit.
June 23 vs. Beef River Bullfrogs (L 4-2)
Next up, was a double header on the road with the Beef River Bullfrogs, but once again, scoring wasn’t there for Cadott, even though they got on the board first, with a run in the fourth inning and another in the sixth.
Defense was the key, as they held the Bullfrogs scorless until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Beef River knocked in four runs to win the game, 4-2.
Peyton Platter went five innings for the Sox, allowing 2 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 batters. Warren Bowe then took over, going an inning, with 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 strikouts.
Redwine, Kron, Platter and Bowe all contributed a hit on offense.
June 23 vs. Beef River Bullfrogs (W 10-0)
In game two, it was all Cadott, as they had 10 runs cross the plate over the seven innings, while holding the Bullfrogs scoreless.
On the mound for the Sox, was Zack Thiesse, who pitched a complete game, allowing 7 hits and no runs, and striking out 7. Erickson came up with 3 hits, followed by Kron, Hanson, Zac Merritt and Logan Burzynski, with 2. Platter also added a hit.
“We have reached the the all-star break for CRBL play, sitting at 8-8 in league play,” said manager Rick Danielson.
