In just their second year of existence, the Lake Holcombe archery program took part in the State competition, where they were told they did not qualify for Nationals in Louisville, Ky. A few days later, the news came that the team did qualify for the 3-D shoot at Nationals, May 9-11.
“I’ve seen so much growth this year, on and off the range,” said coach Ashley Carothers. “I am very proud of these young men and women.”
The archers set off to Nationals, where they achieved a team score of 1,530, while individually, they saw success in their scores.
“I believe overall they did great as a team and as individuals,” said Carothers. Leading for Lake Holcombe, was junior Trent Lee, with a score of 267 and a rank of 128th in his grade, while eighth grader Andrea Friedman had 260, finishing in 133rd. Sophomore Logan Jaedike was right behind, with 259 and a rank of 162nd, with freshman Trevor Tripp shooting 251 and placing 215th.
Also shooting for Lake Holcombe, were junior MacKenzie Bera, with a score of 247 and a 193rd finish; freshman Donovan Bera, 246, 243rd; sixth grader Dylon Richards, 233, 267th; sixth grader Logan Hoffner, 227, 299th; freshman Austin McGinnis, 223, 326th; seventh grader Lillian Goeldner, 213, 338th; seventh grader Katelyn Armstrong, 210, 342nd; senior Jesse Wright, 209, 230th; seventh grader Aleigha Richards, 182, 378th; and junior Hunter Fasbender, 180, 301st.
Through their team score, Lake Holcombe qualified for the Champions shoot in Daytona, Fla.
“That is pretty amazing, in itself,” said Carothers. “The archers deserve every single bit of that.”
