Hornets clinch the playoff seed with win over Vikings

By Ginna Young

With inclement weather on the way, Cadott’s last regular season football game was moved to Oct. 12, on the road against Dunn-St. Croix Conference opponent Colfax. Despite having their plans changed, the Hornets came to play, hungry for a playoff berth.

Cadott opened the first quarter with a touchdown and two-point conversion, then added 14 more points before halftime and another 14 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw zero points on the board, but it didn’t matter, as the Hornets claimed victory, 36-6.

Senior Easton Goodman led for Cadott, with 330 yards, adding to his season total, while junior Warren Bowe had 34 yards rushing, with three touchdowns, and senior Ashton Bremness followed with 30. Senior Nolan Blum captured 61 yards in receiving, including a 57-yard touchdown, and senior Jordan Peters came away with 61 yards on passing.

It’s been a memorable season, as Goodman racked up over 1,000 yards and Cadott is again in the post-season. With the final league record of 4-3 and 4-5 overall, Cadott will face off with Abbotsford on the road, Oct. 20, in what Hornets’ fans hope will be just the first step in the playoffs.
