The Athens varsity eight-man football team on Friday scored 14 points in the final quarter for a 28-18 road win against Alma-Center Lincoln.

Sophomore Even Passehl ran for a 13-yard touchdown and the two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to give the Bluejays a 22-18 lead. Freshmen quarterback Daxton Diethelm threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Isaac Bushman with just over two minutes left for the game-winning score.

Bushman finished the game with four receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

‘Cats get homecoming win

Edgar senior Karter Butt ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns and senior Kohlbe Weisenberger added 58 yards rushing and two touchdowns on Friday to lead the team to a 43-0 Homecoming win against Abbotsford.

Edgar, 5-1, is now ranked second in Division 7 behind undefeated Cashton. Edgar is still undefeated in the Marawood Conference.

Tigers beat Papermakers

Stratford easily won its road game, 44-8, on Friday against Nekoosa. Junior quarterback Jack Tubbs completed six of six passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Payton Glenn had 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Senior Koehler Kilty ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Stratford, 5-1, is now ranked third in Division 6. Stratford plays at home this Friday, Sept. 29, against undefeated Wittenberg-Birnamwood. The Chargers are ranked fourth in Division 5. Stratford, Wittenberg-Birnamwood and undefeated Weyauwega-Fremont are currently tied for first place in the Central Wisconsin Conference-Large.

Raiders fall to Eagles

Marathon lost Friday’s Homecoming game, 44-29, to undefeated Auburndale. Sophomore True Thurs led the Red Raiders with 118 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback Cooper Hoeksema completed 10 of 19 passes for 131 yards and an interception.

The Red Raiders now have a 3-3 record this season.
