Hornets can’t claw way past Panthers
By Ginna Young
Cadott’s football program was on the road Aug. 25, taking on just their second opponent of the season, for a non-conference match with Pittsville.
Striking first, the Panthers notched 12 points in the opening quarter, then added another eight in the second. Cadott also got on the board in the second quarter, with a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
Taking a 20-8 lead into the third quarter, Pittsville continued to score, but so did the Hornets. By the closing quarter of the game, the Panthers held a 34-20 lead, but Cadott refused to go down without a fight, adding six more points to the score.
However, Pittsville also racked up another six more points, to claim a 40-26 victory.
The loss brings Cadott’s record to 0-2 on the year, prior to the start of conference play.
