Rainbow’s Rothmeier an all-around champion in Badger State Games

Raylin Rothmeier led the Rainbow Gymnastics Club’s crew of 20 gymnasts by winning her grouping at The Badger State Games competition hosted April 14-16 by Hub City Gymnastics of Marshfield.

Rothmeier won the all-around gold medal in Level 7, group B competition, which included 10 gymnasts. She totaled 36.2 all-around points in the four events, including a first-place score of 9.25 on the balance beam. She was third on the uneven bars with an 8.8, fourth on the floor exercise with a 9.25 and ninth on the vault with an 8.9.

Rothmeier’s all-around total beat Kara Xiong of Woodson YMCA (Wausau) by 0.2 points, while Ruby Christianson of the Stevens Point YMCA was third with 35.55 all-around points.

Also in Level 7, Rainbow’s Veronica Mateer placed fifth out of 12 gymnasts in Group C. Her all-around total of 34.4 included a third-place score of 9.35 on floor, a fourth-place score of 7.7 on bars, a seventh-place score of 8.55 on beam and an 8.8 on vault that tied for seventh.

Rainbow Gymnastics had two second-place finishers during the weekend.

Aurelia Brushaber was one in Group C of Level 3 competition. She was one-tenth of a point behind Piper Perket of the Marinette-Menominee Gliders with her all-around score of 36.55. Brushaber was second out of 15 girls on the balance beam with a score of 9.15, tied for third on floor with a 9.05, was sixth on vault with a 9.55 and tied for sixth on bars with an 8.8. Kree Doriot was in that group too and tied for 11th with a total score of 34.35. She was part of a three-way tie for second on vault with a 9.75 and added scores of 8.65 on beam, 8.45 on floor and 7.5 on bars.

Adalynn Foster tied Mia Kunkel of Deutschs Gymnastics of Rice Lake for third out of 16 gymnasts in Group E with an all-around score of 36.45. Foster won the beam competition with a 9.1 and was second on floor with a 9.3. She got a 9.3 on vault and an 8.75 on bars. Lena Schug was seventh out of 15 gymnasts in Group B. Her total of 34.65 included a 9.35 on vault, an 8.6 on bars, an 8.45 on floor and an 8.25 on beam. In Group D, Brielle Goll was 12th out of 16 with 33.15 all-around points and Lilian Nemitz-Coleman was 14th with 31.45. Goll got a 9.3 on vault, an 8.75 on bars, a 7.8 on floor and a 7.3 on beam. Nemitz-Coleman got a 9.1 on vault, a 7.7 on beam, a 7.35 on bars and a 7.3 on floor.

The Level 3 gymnasts combined for a team score of 108.65 that placed sixth out of 12 clubs. Woodson YMCA won it with 111.3 points.

Miranda Potocnik was a runner-up for Rainbow in Group C of Level 2 competition. In a group of 16, Potocnik’s 37.15 all-around score trailed only Evelyn Weber of Wildcard Gymnastics of Brookfield (38.2). Potocnik won the vault with a 9.75, took third on bars with a 9.3, was fifth on floor with a 9.1 and got a 9.0 on the beam to take sixth. Tinley Hamm was seventh out of 17 girls in Group D. Her 36.15 included a second-place 9.15 on beam, a third-place 9.6 on vault and scores of 9.0 on floor and 8.4 on bars.

Rainbow placed 11th out 13 clubs in Level 4 competition with 99.45 team points. In Group D, Brooke Buechel was sixth and Rylee Hartwig tied for 12th out of 17 entrants. Buechel earned a total score of 34.4 that included a second-place 8.9 on bars and an 8.7 that tied for fourth on vault. She got an 8.5 on floor and an 8.3 on beam. Hartwig tied for seventh on bars with an 8.5, got another 8.5 on vault and added a 7.4 on beam and a 7.25 on floor for a total score of 31.65. Ruby Holtman was ninth out of 16 gymnasts in Group A, earning 33.4 points. She got an 8.8 on bars, an 8.7 on vault, an 8.2 on beam and a 7.7 on floor.

Rainbow’s Level 8 gymnasts were both top-five finishers. Shayla Radlinger was fourth out of nine girls in Group B. She tied for second on vault (8.7) and floor (8.75), was fourth on bars (8.0) and was seventh on beam (8.2). Delaina Meyer was fifth out of nine Group A gymnasts with her all-around score of 32.7. Meyer was third on the vault with an 8.9, got an 8.7 on floor that was good for fifth and added a 7.7 on beam and a 7.4 on bars.

In the Open Optional competition, Rainbow’s Kyla Krause (33.65) and Kate Malchow (33.3) were seventh and eighth out of 10 entrants. Krause got third on the beam at 8.75, fourth on the vault at 8.9 tied for fourth on floor at 8.6 and tied for eighth on bars at 7.4. Malchow’s 8.4 was fourth on bars. She got an 8.45 on floor, an 8.25 on beam and an 8.2 on vault.

Tenley Colby was eighth out of 14 gymnasts in Xcel Silver’s Group C competition. She compiled 35.0 allaround points, including a 9.2 that took second on the beam. She got an 8.8 on bars, an 8.75 on vault and an 8.25 on floor.

In Level 6, Rainbow had two gymnasts in Group B.

Olivia Schaefer was 10th out of 14 girls, earning a total score of 34.45 that included a 9.0 on beam that tied for fifth, an 8.95 on vault, and 8.7 on floor and a 7.8 on bars. Jordyn Grant was 13th. Her 9.1 on vault was part of a three-way tie for fourth. She got an 8.45 on floor, an 8.15 on beam and a 7.4 on bars to finish with 33.1 total points.
