Chieftains take game from Pirates for a holiday victory

Traveling to Gilman for a non-conference match Dec. 27, the Lake Holcombe boys basketball program ended the year on a high note.
It was a close game throughout, especially in the first half, as the Chieftains took a slim three-point lead into halftime. Lake Holcombe outscored the Pirates in the second, to reel in a win.
“We played a good game against Gilman on Tuesday, and came away with a 67-57 victory,” said coach Joy Webster.
Junior Taye Yeager had a career high 25 points for Lake Holcombe, including 15 of those points from three-point range. He also had a great night on the defensive side of the ball, with 6 steals. Sophomore Brian Strzok had a doubledouble on the night, with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and helped on defense, with 3 steals.
Sophomore Ryley Craker also hit double digits, with 12 points and added 7 assists. Senior Harley Schroeder added 9 points on the night, along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while sophomore Chase Burgess rounded out the scoring with 4 points.
The Chieftains’ record is now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in league action.
