Chiefs watch close one go to the Bears

It was a bit of a haul, but the Cornell boys basketball program struck out for Clayton anyway, Dec. 13, in a conference match-up. It was a close game throughout, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
“We knew Clayton would be a formidable opponent, being one of the few remaining undefeated teams in conference play,” said coach Steve Parker.
Cornell shot well from the free throw stripe, going 10 of 10, and knocked down 10 long-range shots. But it still wasn’t enough, as the game narrowly went to the Bears, 52-49.
“We actually had a chance to tie the game with five seconds left, but missed the three-point shot,” said Parker.
Senior Dylan Bowe finished with 17 points for the Chiefs, while sophomore Parker Modl had a nice inside and out offensive game, scoring 16 points. Senior Blake Anders added 11 points on the night and junior Daniel Person recorded 5.
“Clayton played a stingy man-to-man defense and we didn’t execute either of our offenses well tonight,” said Parker. “We didn’t set and use screens, nor did we effectively move without the basketball.”
