Bowe dedicates 1,000-yard career to friend/teammate

When the 2022 football season started, Cornell senior Dylan Bowe didn’t think that 1,000 yards was possible to attain before the end of his high school career, even though he went to a football camp over the summer, and really hit the gym. That feeling changed in August.
“After the game against Athens, I realized that it could be a possibility,” said Bowe. “Because of this, I set a goal to get 1,000 yards by the end of the season.”
Bowe has many people on his list that he’s grateful to – his teammates, community, family and coaches – but is most thankful to best friend and fellow senior teammate, Avery Turany. Unfortunately, for Turany, he suffered a season-ending injury early on.
“Seeing him go down in the sport he loves the most, was terrible for me,” said Bowe. “Because of this, it drove me to play as hard as I could, every game for him. He is the reason I set my goal to get 1,000 yards.”
With only three games left to go in the season, Bowe knew he had a real chance at making that goal. Then, in the next-to-last game of his career, on the road against conference opponent New Auburn, Bowe reached his goal, more than surpassing 1,000 yards on the football field.
“When my coach came and told me that I had gotten 1,000 yards, it was the best moment ever.”
