Dennis Webb is in the midst of his 15th year as Edgar’s varsity boys cross country head coach and his eighth year as the varsity girls head coach. His cross country coaching staff this season includes volunteer assistant coach Mandy Schnelle and middle school head coach/assistant varsity coach Tom Normington.

The following are Edgar’s top returning varsity boys and cross country runners this season: Senior Ethan Sondelski and sophomores Eli Slack and Isaac Halama. The top girl runners back this season are seniors Morgan Schnelle, Gretchen Brewster, Ella Morse, Brooklyn Schwoerer and Amber Skrzypcak.

Edgar’s top boy newcomers to this year’s varsity squad are freshmen Cade Koch and Dillan Sondelski.

“They are both doing excellent work this season; both guys work hard and they are determined to compete at a high level,” Webb said. “For the girls, Sam Schmidt is doing a wonderful job as a middle of the pack runner but she will definitely move up on the team as her confidence grows while competing in 5K races.”

Webb outlines the teams’ goals this season.

“The boys’ team goals are to work hard, run as a pack and see how far that takes us in the Marawood Conference,” he said. “The girls’ team goal is to work together, stay healthy, keep our awesome team chemistry, compete in every race and improve every day.”
