Chieftains can’t get offense going to overcome Trojans
By Ginna Young
Hosting their first match at home this season, Lake Holcombe’s volleyball program welcomed the New Auburn Trojans for a conference showdown Sept. 1. However, New Auburn proved tougher than the Chieftains would have liked.
“The team struggled to get the offense going tonight,” said coach Beth Meddaugh. “Passing was good, but the setters and hitters couldn’t seem to connect.”
Meddaugh says serving was good, with the team serving overall on the night at 92 percent and 100 percent from everyone in the third set. Despite that, the Chieftains dropped the sets, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-15.
