Cadott places high at Bruce

Facing off with hundreds of competitiors at a Bruce Invitational Aug. 30, the Cadott Hornets Cross Country team was ready to make a splash.
The girls team, led by freshmen Iszy Sonnentag and Josie Roth, and junior Jaycee Stephens, took third out of the nine-team field, while the boys came in sixth.
Individually, Sonenntag was sixth for the Hornets (23:12.7), while Stephens finished 19th (24:44.1) and Roth was 26th (25:12.1).
Also placing for Cadott, was sophomore Cortney Weggen in 40th (27:45.1), with sophomore Lyla Weggen right behind in 42nd (28:11.3), while sophomore Mia Weggen was a few steps behind for 46th place (28:19.5).
Rounding out the girls team, was freshman Marley Mengel, for 62nd (31:06.7).
Senior Peter Weir took top honors for the boys, coming in second (18:47.3). Running in his first ever cross country race, sophomore Saibyn Will ended in 34th (22:05.9). Senior Jake Rowe had a 44th place finish (22:49.9) and sophomore Ewan Weir followed him for 45th (22:53.1).
Bringing in 53rd, was junior sage Handrick (23:14.7), and freshman Gryphen Lindeman came up with 68th place (24:56.3).
“Overall it was a very good performance by all,” said coach Tom Weiss.
